TECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT
(Kuala Lumpur & Kemaman)
Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for ensuring that the vessels assigned to them are being operated in compliance with the rules and regulations of the various statutory, Classification Society and other international and maritime governing bodies.
- To operate the ships such that the costs associated with maintaining the ships are minimized without jeopardizing the safety or the commercial usability of vessels.
- To be responsible for scheduling dry docking, administering tender exercises, evaluating dry dock tenders and supervising dry dock repairs.
- To be responsible for preparing operating and capital budgets for the ships assigned to them.
- To continuously monitor the performance of the ship assigned to them and advise Masters / Chief Engineers on appropriate actions to take when deviations from the norm occurs.
- To be responsible for reporting incidents and following up with insurance claims.
- To be responsible for liaising with other departments within the shore management office so that the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization as a whole are maximized.
- To maintain all relevant records for the ships he manages.
- To liaise with owners of managed vessels as and when required.
- To liaise with other departments, particularly the chartering Department and render any assistance of technical nature that may be required.
- To undertake one-off jobs such as assisting in the sales and purchase of vessels, new building, purchase of major plant and equipment for vessels, conversion of existing vessels, etc.
- To undertake any other job related responsibilities that may be assigned by the Head, Technical Department.
Requirements:
- 1st Class Certificate of Competency Marine or 2nd Class with at least 5 years sea-going experience , in maritime related industry or oil and gas industry.
- Sound knowledge in ISM, ISPS, IMO, Flag State and Classification Society Rules and Regulations.
- Excellent management skills, innovative and able to lead department transformation.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent written and oral English and able to write reports.
- Computer literate familiar with MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel
