Analytical Technician

Basic Job Functions:
- The person in this role is responsible for conducting routine analysis following defined methods in support of raw material production, procurement, and refinement. Day-to-day responsibilities include sampling and sample preparation, operation and maintenance of analytical instrumentation as assigned, data management / reporting and maintenance of a clean laboratory environment. This person will be comfortable working under the direction of the Analytical Chemists and the Laboratory Manager and will be conscious of safety and data quality.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
- Responsible for routine analysis of material using defined methods
- Operate and maintain ICP and /or AA instrumentation or equivalent instrumentation
- Keep complete and accurate records of laboratory activities
- Responsible for data management including accurate transcription to spreadsheets and other software
- Protect the integrity of test samples by maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory environment
- Work safely at all times, promptly reporting any safety issues to the Laboratory Manger
- Support and assist other lab personnel and internal customers
- Keep record or laboratory inventory and ordering system
- Provide support to the Analytical Chemists and Laboratory Manager in the development of new analytical methods
- Conduct projects to support continuous improvement
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Chemistry or equivalent.
- At least 1-3 years analytical laboratory experience required.
- Experience in an environment involving inorganic testing and trace analysis is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills
- Basic knowledge of operations in an inorganic analytical environment
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel
- Strong verbal skills
