Software Engineer-Release Management
(Kuala Lumpur)
Responsibilities:
- To help set-up a scaleable environment management and release management process across all environments – Development, Integrated System Testing (IST), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Performance Testing, Regression
- To automate via scripts or Control M schedule the tasks related to the environment management.
- To help set-up a scaleable source control and release management structure in Clearcase until this process is mature. To migrate to Rational Team Concert for source control and build.
- To work in a new local team in Malaysia focused on environment & release management.
- To engage in multiple projects early on as part of scheduled major releases, as well as BAU changes on minor releases to ensure proactive set-up and management of environments and release streams.
- Work alongside onshore test automation lead to ensure adequate code management and validation across development process.
- Support the IT controls on delivery to IST, UAT, Regression environments and code/DB releases, including handover to production support for Live releases.
- Support defining standards around code packages, db scripts, automated job scheduling.
- Ensure all controls adhered to around development before items are promoted to each testing phase – technical specs, analyst validation, evidence of unit testing including performance testing and peer code review.
- Support audit around process to identify loopholes and further controls to be implemented.
- Support capacity planning on all environments.
- Support the collation of a release form and compiling all SOX documentation required for handover to support team (e.g. implementation plans, support documentation)
- Support working with Architecture team on strategic streams to compile infrastructure requirements and ensuring additional capacity required to support this stream is managed proactively across test and production environments.
Technical
- Environment Management
- Setting up scripts and automated process around environment housekeeping, including archiving/space management and performance monitoring.
- Performing and setting up automated process around DB Refreshes on ORACLE development and test databases from production dumps made available by DBA Support team.
- Applying database scripts in test environments and interrogating error logs.
Release Management
- Supporting controls around code checkouts and code promotion during development, IST, UAT, Regression
- Supporting source control and release process on Clearcase and experience on Rational Team Concert.
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication) or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position :
- Experience with Oracle 9i & 11g
- Unix scripting (shell)
- Clearcase
- Rational Team Concert
- Proactive self-starter
- Strong attention to detail and control mindset
- Focus on continuous improvement
